Student Housing
Housing is available to students requiring financial aid. The University dormitory (located in the campus) has the capacity to host 700 students, whereas rented apartments are also available. Contact Details: Mrs. Ourania Poufina, tel. 25310-39211, 39212).
To apply, please submit the following necessary supporting documents:

  • Filled-out application form (obtained from the Departmental Secretariat).
  • Current tax-return form (or certified photocopy) either of the parent or of the student (if the latter does not declare income, then the parent’s tax-return form must be accompanied by a certifying note from the Tax Center).
  • A recent family status certificate (from the municipality of residence)
  • A letter from the department stating the year of first enrollment and the year of study
  • A signed statement of parents residence.If the candidate is claiming housing assistance on grounds of disability or medical condition, a diagnosis certificate from a testified medical institution would also be required.
    Those of the applicants that have a sibling studying at the same time in the University, or one sibling is serving in the period of interest in the Greek Armed Forces, they should also supply the necessary certifying documents in support of their application.
    Similarly a certificate would be necessary if the applicant claims special consideration due to large number of children in the family.

Student Daily Meals
All students regardless of family income are eligible to free board (daily meals) throughout their studies. To apply, please submit to the Departmental Secretariat the following supporting documents:

  • Filled-out application form (obtained from the Departmental Secretariat).
  • Current tax-return form (or certified photocopy) either of the parent or of the student (if the latter does not declare income, then the parent's tax-return form must be accompanied by a certifying note from the Tax Center).
  • A signed form of Law 1599, that they do not have permanent residence in Comotini.
  • The student restaurant is open daily from 7:00-9:00 a.m. (excepting weekends), 12:30-15:00 p.m., and 19:00-21:00.Student Health Care

All students are entitled to health care (medical, pharmaceutical, and hospitalization), enrolled either in the undergraduate or the graduate programme (by Presidential Decree, 327/83).
For undergraduate students the period of coverage extends throughout the nominal period of study increased by half of that time in cases of delayed graduation.
For graduate students the period of coverage extends two years beyond the minimum nominal time required for completion of their Degree.
In the case of the last year of study, health coverage extends beyond the end of the academic year up to the end of the calendar year for those who have not yet received their certificates of study.

To obtain the necessary health care booklet, the student must submit a signed from of law 1599/86, stating that they are not insured in alternative health plans and they choose the University as their sole health insurance provider. To obtain a health-care booklet the student may apply anytime, excepting the period of enrollment.

Bursaries and Scholarships

Scholarships are available through the National Foundation of Scholarship (I.K.Y., www.iky.gr) to exceptional students that have either achieved high scores in the entrance exams (as freshmen - entrance scholarship), or during their university study (based on the GPA of the two semesters in the previous academic year - aptitude scholarship). The grant is determined every year by the governing council of I.K.Y.

To be eligible for scholarship the successful candidate must be:

  • A Greek Citizen or National
  • A clear penal record (see article 22 in P.D. 611/1977)
  • A clear school record (no penalties of any kind for improper behavior during schooling)
  • The personal income of the candidate cannot exceed €8800, or the family income € 11740 (this income limit is adjusted upwards by €1500 for every other child in the family, or by €3000 per child for families with more than 4 children).
  • He/she should have succeeded on first attempt in the General Entrance Exams in the Department of Study.
  • He/she should have passed successfully the nominal number of courses in the academic program preceding the year of application with a GPA at least 6.51.
  • For the application to be considered, the supporting documents must be submitted within the deadlines (announced annually by the Departmental Secretariat).
