Call for abstracts for the ECSL Young Lawyers’ Symposium

The European Centre for Space Law (ECSL) was established under the auspices of the European Space Agency (ESA) in 1989 to promote and foster Space Law in Europe. The  call for abstracts for the ECSL Young Lawyers’ Symposium is currently still open until 7 August 2022. Every year, the ECSL invites young scholars and professionals to take part in the Young Lawyers’ Symposium (YLS). The aim of the YLS is to allow early career scholars and professionals to present a space law related topic in an international forum, exchange ideas and network amongst themselves.

The event will be held online on 23 September 2022, from 15:00 – 18:00 CEST and is free of charge.

The YLS 2022 will centre around three themed panels, which will consider legal aspects relating to:

1. Legal Consequences of Active Debris Removal

  1. The Legal Status of Humans in Outer Space
  2. Existing Legal Framework in Connection the ongoing Challenges and Opportunities due to the rise of Mega-constellations

    Hard facts:

Young scholars and professionals (35 and under) are invited to submit a 500-word abstract on a topic relating to the theme of one of the three panels. Selections of speakers will be made on the basis of their submitted abstract. The abstract should give an indication of what the speaker will address in a 10min presentation.

The call for abstracts is now open until 7 August 2022 at 23:59 (CEST). We aim to inform selected authors by 1 September 2022.
